During the 2-day seminar in New Delhi (9-10 November
2006) the TeleSupport initiative was endorsed by policymakers, research organisations
and several key NGOs. Participants appreciated
the participatory approach, innovative institutional linkages, clear videos and
Good Practices. Also the well-functioning web tools and sustainability
of the platform, for at least 10 years, was valued.
Participants recommended additional
linkages and upscaling to other areas in order to address pressing problems of
small farmers and women groups.
The Initiative started with EU-funding in 2006
in 2 States (Kerala and W.Bengal). It focuses on making information available to
address problems of marginal farmers and women groups. Linkages were formed
with universities and research institutes and solutions jointly elaborated and checked.
The information was repackaged into manuals and videos in English and local languages,
and discussed with the local groups. As a result 95 good practices have been described,
80 experts registered and 6 videos made.
